Collect
Reads Modbus RTU and SDI-12 sensors across mixed field and industrial networks.
Terrabox Edge Gateway
Terrabox is a rugged edge data gateway for field monitoring and industrial sensing projects. It collects readings from mixed sensor networks, including Modbus and SDI-12 devices, stores data locally, and forwards telemetry into Nvirosense using reliable networking protocols when connectivity is available.
What Terrabox does
It sits between field hardware and the cloud: polling instruments, normalising readings, supervising drivers, recording timestamped data, and handing telemetry to the wider Nvirosense monitoring layer.
Reads Modbus RTU and SDI-12 sensors across mixed field and industrial networks.
Stores readings locally when connectivity drops, protecting the continuity of site records.
Sends telemetry to Nvirosense using reliable networking protocols when the uplink is available.
Runs sensor drivers with restart behaviour for failed or interrupted processes.
Provides a local web UI for devices, settings, ports, readings, logs and operational checks.
Designed for additional drivers and gateway workflows, including BLE, mesh and LoRa directions.
Protocols and gateway fit
Terrabox is designed for CM4/CM5 and edge Linux environments where reliable data capture matters more than constant connectivity. It can run as a lightweight on-site appliance with local visibility before readings move into cloud dashboards and reports.
Offline-first field operation
Terrabox keeps collecting readings locally when uplinks are intermittent. Its local buffer protects timestamped sensor data during outages, then allows telemetry to be published onward when connectivity returns.
That continuity matters for environmental monitoring, agriculture, industrial telemetry, research instrumentation, weather stations, CO2 monitoring, power systems and remote infrastructure.
Use cases
Soil, weather, microclimate and farm instrumentation for remote production sites.
CO2, temperature and humidity capture for operational and research environments.
Serial-connected equipment and Modbus devices feeding a monitoring platform.
Field instruments and timestamped readings for applied environmental projects.
Microclimate stations, remote assets and unattended monitoring points.
Power telemetry integrations where field readings need buffering and operational handoff.
Nvirosense integration
Terrabox captures and buffers readings close to the instruments. Nvirosense visualises, maps, alerts, analyses and reports on that telemetry. Together they create an end-to-end monitoring layer from sensor to dashboard.
Field devices, serial sensors, Modbus RTU and SDI-12 readings.
Local continuity during outages and unstable uplinks.
Dashboards, maps, alerts, analytics and reports in Nvirosense.
Terrabox projects
Terrabox gives Nvirosense deployments a resilient edge layer for sensor capture, buffering and telemetry handoff.
